Pre Service- Learning

1) My hopes for the service- learning project is educate this people with what I know. I hope to make a change in their life. I also hope to understand and see how hard it is for these people to manage their life without knowing and having anything. I have never experience anything like this so I'm very glad to be part of something like this. I know for sure that this organization will in fact make in impact in my life. I want to be able to tell people that life is sometimes hard, but you can always overcome the negative outcomes if you don't give up. I want to tell people stories about my experience at World Reilef, and make people perciate the littlest things in life.

2) My assumption toward the service- learning site would be that most of these people barely understand or cannot speak the English language. Most of these people have some sort of education background, because most of these people are taught that education is the least important factor in life. I also assume that these people will stick to their traditions and beliefs throughout their life.

3) World Relief is a organization that helps people in refugees come to America for a better life. Their job is to provide theses people with care, and help them learn the basic needs of life. For example, they help them by teaching them how manage their money, education, cultures, rights, and day-to-day bases. Their main propose of this organization is make these people feel important of who they are and how to gained valuable workplace experience for your future career.

4) I believed that most of the people they served would probably be Burmese (Chin and Karen), Bhutanese (coming from Nepal), Iraqis, Congolese, Eritreans, Cubans, Sudanese.

5) Being able to volunteer at World Relief is such a great opportunity, because you become more understanding of how difficult it is for these people to manage a new different life. I hope to connect with the family and throughout the years I hope to come back and help everyone that I can. The service- learning site really inspires me because they help people in refuges have a second chance in life. They want people to know that they are still important and humans just like the others. I also have love how they make the  understand that it's okay to have different beliefs, and it's not their faults for being different.

How service relates to learning

Service relates to learning in many ways. For example it's helps you have more knowledge to different cultures in communities. You learn how to interact with different people of different background. You learn to develop interpersonal skills and critical thinking. Students become more understanding of how important it is to learning to be involve in diverse communities because you learn how to solve local, national, and international problems.
